A Training Programme on “Foundation Courses in AI / Data Science”, focusing on (i) Fundamentals of Data Curation using Python and (ii) Fundamentals of Data Annotation using Python, commenced today at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli. The programme is jointly organized by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) in association with NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh.
The inaugural session was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. S. Gao, Dean (Academic),NERIST, as the Chief Guest; Prof. M. Chandrasekaran, Dean (Administration); and Prof. M. Marjit Singh, Department of Computer Science & Engineering NERIST also the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for NIELIT Itanagar, as Special Invitees. Er. R.K. Bigensana Singh, Director In-charge, NIELIT Itanagar, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
The programme is being coordinated by Dr. M. Kathing, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr. Lilapati Waikhom, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NERIST.
Altogether, 80 students from various departments have enrolled in the training. The programme is designed to equip participants with essential skills in programming, data management, and analytical problem-solving—skills that are crucial for both research and industry applications. The training programme will continue over the coming days, aiming to enhance the technical competencies of learners across the North Eastern region and to foster stronger collaboration between academia and technical institutions in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
